Although the Haydn has a low 16Ω impedance the beryllium drivers do like a bit of power to bring out their best. While you can drive them with a smartphone you’ll need to turn up the volume quite a lot – on my Galaxy Note 5 I had it at 90% or more depending on the recording. Best results can be had when using a dedicated DAP or headphone amplifier.

After hearing the original A15 I was definitely not expecting what the Whizzer Haydn A15 Pro earphone delivers. It’s refined, resolving and loaded with details. With a near neutral bass and somewhat lean midrange this is a completely different beast than its predecessor. It’s almost clinically clean but is still musical and emotive.

Bass

Bass is tight, textured and detailed but it doesn’t have a lot of impact. In fact, it’s quite close to neutral. Some people will surely love this kind of presentation but if you’re a basshead then you would be better served by the original A15. Driver speed is fast and these can handle complex bass lines with finesse. There’s no sign of sluggishness or bloat whatsoever. Sub-bass extends well, has a short decay and is extremely controlled with no hint of distortion in the driver or housings. For my personal preference these take a little too much of the fun aspect out of the bass but from a technical standpoint, the Haydn A15 Pro earphone is masterful in this area.

Mids

Midrange is a highlight of the Haydn A15 Pro earphone. Thanks to the tightly controlled bass there’s no bleed or contamination from the low frequencies. The amount of detail is pretty remarkable for an earphone in this price range and the Haydn is highly resolving in this regard. Deft and agile, the Haydn easily handles complex passages and does a great job of keeping elements separated. For those who enjoy picking up the minute details in music, this would be a good choice.

Treble

The Haydn A15 Pro earphone shares many similarities in its treble with the original A15 and that is a good thing. There’s plenty of extension and the same airiness that made the original A15’s treble so impressive. There some sparkle and energy but at no time does it become strident or offensive. Hi-hats and cymbals have good timbre and sheen. This is an area where the A15 series is very strong.

Soundstage

There is more width than depth but it portrays quite a large stage and space, thanks to that fine treble and clean separation in the midrange. Imaging is also nice with solid coverage of the headspace and good positional information.

Comparisons

Whizzer A15 (original) ($69 USD)

Let’s start with the similarities here, rather than the differences. Treble. The original A15 and the Haydn A15 Pro earphone share a similar, airy treble. It’s not harsh and won’t poke icy shards into your brain but is well extended with some added sparkle. It’s really good. But that’s where the similarities end.

Bass on the original A15 is big. Big and boomy and fun. The Haydn, on the other hand, is very reserved and conservative in the bass. Whizzer’s Haydn is also noticeably leaner in the midrange and there’s virtually no carryover from the bass into the lower midrange.

Basically what you’re getting with the A15 is a fun, V-shaped, bordering on basshead IEM and the Haydn A15 Pro earphone moves in the opposite direction. The Haydn Pro is linear, with a near neutral bass, more details (crazy detail) and a more balanced approach.

TFZ Exclusive King Experience Version ($99 USD)

Has significantly more mid and sub-bass impact. Similarly lean midrange but has a more noticeable peak in the upper mids while the Haydn has a more linear rise. The Exclusive King has less sparkle in the treble and instead focuses on the upper midrange. Both earphones have a similar soundstage that is fairly spacious and wide.

In terms of comfort TFZ’s IEM feels more secure in the ears and offers better noise isolation. Build quality on both is excellent for their respective prices.

Whizzer with Dipstick in 101 Dalmatians: The Series

In the TV series, Whizzer’s appearance differs from having white ears with two spots on his left ear, a red collar, grey eyelids, and notable bags under his eyes. He is usually seen hanging out with Dipstick or Mooch. Usually, when seen with Mooch, he acts as a posse member, usually laughing about jokes Mooch makes and commenting them to be «good ones.»

This doesn’t mean he isn’t good with other pups, though, as he is seen hanging out with Lucky, Cadpig, and Rolly on some occasions.

His bladder troubles are brought more to light here; various cases would be in «Twelve Angry Pups» when Mooch mentions Whizzer losing his bladder control, and «A Christmas Cruella» in which he is picked up by Cruella to hug and accidentally pees all over her. In «Dalmatian Vacation», during the journey, the puppy bus has to stop every couple of feet, because Whizzer is in desperate need to relieve himself. Cruella gets fed up with the time-wasting stops and refuses to let the bus stop again. However, she again made the bus stop after Whizzer relieved himself in Cruella’s shoes.

As the Dalmatians take a tour of a «Kanine Krunchies» factory, they are told not to mark any territory during the tour. Whizzer gives the audience a look of disappointment.

Whizzer A15 – Обзор

Главный плюс в звучании Whizzer A15, для меня – это ширина сцены. Ни одна модель до 70$, даже близко не стоит в позиционировании инструментов так, как это делают наушники Whizzer A15. Полный потенциал модели удалось раскрыть, прослушав ее через хороший портативный плеер Cayin N5. На моем Galaxy s8 с выделенным 32 битным цапом, не удалось раскрыть и половины общего качество звучания. Так что качественный источник для Whizzer A15 определенно Must Have, хотя даже со смартфона звучание хорошее.

Комфорт и дизайн

Дизайн Whizzer A15 – универсален. В ушах смотрится очень интересно, чем-то напоминают сценические мониторы. Металлический корпус с элегантным Logo «Whizzer» (буквой W) и нетипичный, заушный способ ношения, дает модели значительно количество «очков» в плане оригинальности и в плане «дороговизны» внешнего вида .

Главный минус:

Заушины не эргономичны и из-за них провод немного «торчит» в разные стороны. Так же наушники не очень удобно надевать, приходятся натягивать провод вниз, что бы заушины более или менее приняли нужную форму и совсем уж не выпирали в разные стороны. Кстати этот недуг пофиксили в следующей версии модели – Whizzer A15 Pro (о ней в следующих обзорах, звучание там тоже изменилось в лучшую сторону  ).

Из личного опыта:

Наушники юзал 2 недели, впечатление сугубо положительное!

• В метро отлично звукоизолируют. Широкий комплект амбушюр для любых ушей. Не выпадают и в ушном канале сидят надежно;
• Провод с тканевой оплеткой не путается в кармане. Укреплены места соединения со штекером и капсулами;
• Кабель сменный, можно поменять на другой (кстати вместе с заушинами, на более удобные!)
• Крепкий и привлекательный корпус, на голове наушники смотрятся интересно;
• Удобный кейс, которым, на редкость хочется пользоваться;
• Ну и конечно же звук. Все любимые композиции начали звучать по-новому! Ширина сцены, для такой цены, ошеломительная.

Вердикт:

Whizzer A15 – это лучшие внутриканальные наушники до 70$, из всех, что попадали мне в руки (из всех, что есть на сайте). Качественный звук, крепкая и красивая конструкция и богатый комплект. Headphonesbest – рекомендует Whizzer A15, о покупке вы не пожалеете !

Packaging and accessories

The Haydn experience begins similarly to the original A15, with a black box encased by a white cardboard sleeve. On the front is an image of the earphones. On the back are the specifications and an exploded diagram, detailing all the components that make up the IEM.

Upon opening the box you’re presented with everything beautifully laid out and secured in black foam. On the left side is the excellent assortment of eartips, all held by the also excellent metal plate, which can be used as a stand. That’s a unique and classy way of doing things. I approve. There are four types of eartips provided.

• 3 x. pairs “Reference” silicone tips (S, M, L)
• 3 x pairs “Transparent” silicone tips (S, M, L)
• 1 x pair “Reference” foam tips
• 1 x pair “Transparent” foam tips

The two different sets of tips vary in shape with the reference ones having a more circular shape and narrow bore while the transparent ones have more of a conical shape and wider bore.

On the right side are the Haydn A15 Pro earphones and the tan colored storage case with magnetic seal. The case is made of protein leather and is the perfect size for holding the earphones and being pocket friendly at the same time.

Lastly, under the eartip plate is a user manual and warranty card.  Although it appears simple, it’s apparent that someone has put some serious thought into the layout of the packaging.

Live-action appearances

101 Dalmatians

In the live-action adaptation, Whizzer was one of the original 15 puppies given birth to by Pongo and Perdita. When Jasper and Horace raided the Dearly’s house to kidnap the puppies and bring them to Cruella De Vil, Whizzer took a bite at Jasper’s hand as the Badun tried to reach out to grab him, causing Jasper to hit his head above on the counter.

When the van arrived in Suffolk and the Baduns went into a pub, Whizzer was able to wiggle out of the bag and bark to Kipper the Airedale terrier, who then informed the farm animals about this during the Twilight Bark. During the escape, Whizzer distracted Horace and Jasper; some cases being tricking Jasper into stepping on a loose floorboard and falling through it, or Horace slipping on some ice and flying out the window. He eventually escapes with Kipper’s help and returns home.

In this version, it is said that Whizzer is amongst the bravest of the pups. Despite being very brave, he had a constant bladder problem, often urinating in places he shouldn’t, hence his name. Another display of his bladder issue is when he’s escaping from De Vil Manor and relieves himself on a fashion magazine, with Cruella’s picture on the cover.

Дизайн и удобство ношения

Продолжает приятное впечатление дизайн. Whizzer сумели сделать свои наушники не похожими на другие, но «в хорошем смысле слова». Корпуса немного необычной формы в виде треугольников с закруглёнными углами выглядят очень интересно, а отличное качество исполнения добавляет ощущения солидности.

С посадкой всё чуть-чуть хуже, но не критично. В Whizzer немного не рассчитали с углом звуковода, поэтому у некоторых людей (я в их числе) корпус наушника неплотно прилегает к уху. В целом ни на что, кроме звукоизоляции, это не влияет (да и на изоляцию — не сильно), но жалобы на это есть не только с моей стороны. Плюс «обычный» вариант A15 немного больше стандартных наушников, поэтому обладатели небольших ушей могут их не посадить. Я со своими среднего размера ушными раковинами подобных проблем не испытываю, А15 очень комфортны в ношении, ничего нигде не упирается и не мешает. В целом, используя нештатный кабель, наушники можно носить и проводом вниз, но заушная посадка всё-таки более удобна для них, особенно с учётом достаточно массивных корпусов.

Звукоизоляция — чуть-чуть меньше средней, но в повседневном использовании на улице этого достаточно (метро и дорожные работы с отбойным молотком явно будут исключением).

Build, comfort and isolation

Just like the original, the Haydn A15 Pro earphone has metal housings and a very solid build. In fact the build is almost identical to the original but this time the finish on the housings is a dark gray and has a matte finish. They’re fairly small but have some weight to them and feel very sturdy. All rounded edges here too which is always a good sign. The join between the two halves is really well done with no gaps in between.

On the outer side is the Whizzer logo in white. The inner side has Whizzer printed in white along with Left and Right markings – something that I believe every IEM should include. There’s also a vent/bass port on the inside here.

The nozzles are angled and have a good lip to securely hold the eartips in place. There’s also a gold-colored mesh covering the nozzle ends to keep out ear wax and other debris. Classy! Overall the build quality is top notch and is in line with what you can expect with something around the $100 mark.

Cable

Now onto the cable which is where things take a downturn. The look and feel of it are somewhat cheap. I’m not a fan of braided cables and this one just doesn’t feel as premium as the earphones themselves or the rest of the package. The actual cable core, however, is a very good quality 6n OCC.

This time around the memory wire on the Haydn A15 Pro earphone is a huge improvement over the stiff and unyielding ones that came on the original. It’s very pliable and much easier to work with. You’ll hardly notice it’s there at all for the most part.

Above the Y-split the cable is rubberized and I really wish the bottom section was the same instead of having the braided cover. The Y-split is nicely done and has A15 in gold print on one side and Pro on the other. There is also a chin slider which is always a plus. The cable terminates in a 3.5 mm gold-plated L-shaped plug with good strain reliefs.

What really hurts the cable the most though is the long, angled MMCX connectors. It was literally impossible to get a good fit and seal because of these. I have larger than average ears but nothing freakish or unusual. The shape and angle of the MMCX connectors made it simply impossible to get a proper fit. Just like the original A15 I had to switch to a third party cable to be able to wear these earphones. I think this is something the company needs to make some revisions on in future releases. I will say though that the MMCX connectors themselves, just like the original A15 are excellent. They’re sturdy yet easy to disconnect and have a satisfying click.

Comfort and isolation

Once I had changed to another cable I found the Haydn A15 Pro earphone to be very comfortable. The housings sit nicely in the ears and the rounded edges provide great comfort.

The housings are quite small so even though they are metal the noise isolation is about average. It’s certainly on par with most IEMs and suitable for everyday use.

Совместимость

Так как наушники обладают своей, заметно окрашенной подачей, топовые источники для них не нужны, всё равно они будут играть «по-своему». Главное — избегать с ними плееров с ярко выраженным акцентом на НЧ или с притемнённой подачей.

Жанрово я бы рекомендовал простую версию A15 для электронной музыки, джаза, не-тяжёлого рока и попа — тех стилей, где подчёркнутые НЧ будут уместны. К качеству треков наушники не особо критичны, главное, чтоб ВСЧ и ВЧ были хорошо прописаны. По условной шкале «придирчивости» я бы оценил их где-то на 5 из 10.

Традиционные треки в роли примера

Duke Ellington — In a Sentimental Mood. Прекрасный джазовый стандарт, благодаря весьма приличным СЧ героев сегодняшнего обзора раскрывается очень неплохо, а подчёркнутые НЧ в чём-то идут ему на пользу.

Duffy — Warwick Avenue. Достаточно мало известная у нас, но прекрасная певица родом из Уэльса и её главный хит о расставании. Из-за акцента на ВСЧ/ВЧ у A15, женский вокал в них звучит весьма приятно, и данная песня служит тому хорошим примером.

Erykah Badu — Appletree (2B3 Mix). Для тех, кто, как и я, скучает по лету и теплу — немного музыки для согревания мыслей. Позитивные вибрации, чутко улавливаемые и подчёркиваемые A15, звучат очень приятно, придавая треку эффектности и навевая нужное настроение.

Whizzer sends messages to Trish Walker

Robert Coleman was fascinated with mongooses and owned a pet named Emil. On his eighteenth birthday, Coleman was intoxicated and went onto the roof of his apartment, then slipped over the roof to the ground next to the apartment. He was then taken to IGH where he was experimented on by using genetic editing. Coleman was granted superhuman speed but only when he succumbs to fear. Coleman escaped from a hospital and fears for his life on account of the possibility that IGH might go after him for being an enhanced individual.

On his laptop, Coleman recorded himself about his situation and how he got his powers, and how he believes his powers are killing him and can cause mental illness. Coleman tried to contact Trish Walker about having individuals like Jessica Jones to speak about their powers is a good thing and sent in a link about how his powers have negative side effects.

Whizzer is murdered by Alisa Jones

Though Jones tried to subdue him with a chair, Coleman dropped the gun and began trailing around the office, tossing objects at her, including the box containing Brian Jones and Phillip Jones’ ashes, before sprinting out of the building. He tried to escape Jones but was soon halted by the collapsing scaffold. Ultimately, Alisa made another one over Coleman’s head fall and he was killed by the rubble.

Перед прослушиванием наушники были прогреты на протяжении 48 часов.

В целом моё мнение по A15 не совпадает с «большинством голосов» других авторов в Интернете. Под большинство обзоров, что я читал у других, больше подходят как раз A15 Pro, именно они предлагают сбалансированный звук, близкий к гибридным моделям, а вот обычный вариант A15 предлагает достаточно заметный акцент на НЧ. Из-за проблем с посадкой, которые, судя по отзывам в Сети, наблюдаются не только у меня, звучание может изменяться, поэтому я потратил на прослушивание A15 больше времени, чем обычно, используя различные комплектные и не очень насадки, а также прижимая их под разным углом. В итоге отзыв составлен на основании самого «небасистого» варианта со средними насадками «transparency» и без прижима.

СЧ-диапазон отыгрывается весьма неплохо, но он страдает от насыщенного баса, на его фоне середина кажется отведённой на второй план и там брошенной, хотя на самом деле СЧ тут обладают нормальным разрешением и весьма эффектным балансом между аналитичностью и музыкальностью подачи. В общем, если бы бас тут не доминировал (а у него нет других вариантов, как говорится, «носорог очень плохо видит, но при его весе — это не его проблемы»), наушники по СЧ были бы реальным конкурентом лучшим представителям динам среднего ценового сегмента. Последний тезис, кстати, доказывают A15 Pro, но об этом в другой раз. Воображаемая сцена немного меньше среднего в ширину и глубину, что характерно для наушников с излишне акцентированными НЧ, слишком массивная басовая подложка просто не даёт более высоким частотам сделать своё дело.

ВЧ, к счастью, обладают явно выраженным акцентом, без которого дело было бы совсем печально. Акцент подобран очень аккуратно, на хороших записях и качественных источниках он не режет слух и не даёт неприятного металлического эха, но при этом аккуратно балансирует подачу модели, позволяя наушникам хорошо отыгрывать агрессию и микронюансы женского вокала. Естественно, говорить об идеальной проработке атак и затуханий на ВЧ тут не приходится, но уже хотя бы нормально сбалансированное их количество и хорошее разрешение — прекрасный шаг для данной ценовой категории.

Whizzer Haydn A15 Pro Earphone Conclusion

Whizzer’s Haydn A15 Pro earphone is so far removed from the original it’s surprising the company didn’t give it a completely different name. While it does retain similar characteristics in the treble, the rest of the spectrum is a vast departure from its predecessor.

However, the Haydn A15 Pro earphone has it’s own merits, particularly in its resolving nature and excellent detail retrieval. It’s another of those “audiophile” tuned IEMs of which we’ve seen several lately. Is it a worthy upgrade over the original? Well, that depends on what kind of sound you like. Either way, the Haydn A15 Pro earphone is technically impressive and for its sound, I would definitely recommend it. The only caveat is that I’d suggest you have a spare cable on hand just in case.

Video games

Whizzer (based on his «live-action» appearance) appears as one of the main two Dalmatians in the PC game 101 Dalmatians: Escape from DeVil Manor where he, along with Patches, try to escape the Baduns and find their way out of the manor. Whizzer mainly serves as a guide the player talks to for hints, in case they get stuck on a certain puzzle. In the game, he claims that he is good at figuring stuff out and climbing items.

In 101 Dalmatians: Animated Storybook, on one page, three Dalmatian pups jump into a boot in the Dearly’s lounge. While he may not be referred to by name, one of the pups comments, «Ewww, it’s wet in here!» to which another pup replies with, «Sorry.» It is possible the pup who apologizes might be Whizzer.

He is voiced by Ryan O’Donohue in Escape from DeVil Manor and Christine Cavanaugh in 101 Dalmatians: The Series.

Упаковка и комплект поставки

В создании упаковки первого варианта наушников разработчики решили использовать древнюю китайскую мудрость: «чем больше коробка, тем лучше» и не пожалели картона, пластиковых вставок и распорок внутри. Смотрится всё это весьма солидно, да и комплект поставки не подкачал.

• два набора по 3 пары насадок, одни подписаны как «референсные», вторые как «прозрачные», видимо, чтобы озадачить слушателя, что же ему выбрать. Но по факту отличие невелико и состоит в чуть разном количестве баса. Насадки закреплены в удобной металлической пластине-органайзере
• запасные поролоновые фильтры в звуковод
• пинцет для их замены
• чехольчик с магнитным клапаном из кожзаменителя

Как видите, по этому параметру всё прекрасно тянет на почти «топовый» уровень.
