Switch Game of the Year▣ Divinity: Original Sin II — Definitive Edition

First released in 2017 for PC (and then in 2018 for PS4 and XB1), Larian’s massively acclaimed sequel to the 2014 RPG Divinity: Original Sin finally landed on the Switch this fall. Reviewers once again raved about the game, which can’t match the visual quality of the earlier versions but runs well enough on the Switch and retains the same breadth of content.

Switch Exclusive of the Year▣ Fire Emblem: Three Houses

If you wanted to play a new Zelda game in 2019, you had to settle for a remake of the old Game Boy release Link’s Awakening. If you wanted a new Mario game, you had to make one yourself. So it fell to another Nintendo franchise to pick up the slack. After a decade as a handhelds-only property, Nintendo’s long-running tactical fantasy RPG series moved back to consoles for the first time since 2007’s Radiant Dawn, making its first appearance on the Switch in the process. The move to better hardware means more combat and complexity, though some found the result intimidating.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Вышедшая в 2018 году Red Dead Redemption 2 получила невероятные 97 баллов на Metacritic. И знаете, наверное – заслуженно. Игра потрясает не только сюжетной линией (хотя, есть те, кому она показалась скучной, как и весь игровой процесс в целом), но и кучей мелких деталей, скурпулезностью разработчиков буквально ко всему.

Во-первых, это лучшая игра про Дикий Запад. Во-вторых, здешний открытый мир точно может претендовать на лидерские места обходя не слабых конкурентов, возможно даже в лице третьего Ведьмака.

Тем не менее, потребители оказались чуть более придирчивыми и общая оценка для RDR2 на PS4 равна 8-ми баллам.

К сожалению, игра пока вышла только на двух ведущих консолях. Но мы практически не сомневаемся, что релизу на ПК – быть!

Joker and Avengers: Endgame are among the films that rated more highly with our users than with critics, though both groups shared four films in their top five while also agreeing on the #1 overall film of 2019: Parasite. Top vote-getters among critics that didn’t rank in our users’ top 15 picks include Uncut Gems, Portrait of a Lady on Fire (which hasn’t really opened in theaters yet), The Farewell, Pain and Glory, and Little Women.

Ведьмак 3 (2015)

Шедевр получивший 93 балла на «метакритик» и 94 от пользователей. «Ведьмак 3: Дикая Охота» навсегда останется легендой игропрома, одной из лучших игр вообще.

Очень надеемся, что на этом разработчики из CD Project Red не остановятся и выдадут достойное продолжение (но, скорей всего, без Геральта в главной роли).

Полагаю, среди любителей ролевых игр нет тех, кто не опробовал 3-ю часть. Если таковые всё-таки есть – срочно берите, с обоими DLC. Не пожалеете!

Конечно, Top 13 самых высоко оценённых игр не может вместить все достойные проекты, а для кого-то список и вовсе покажется странным. Игр слишком много, все они разные, и угодить вкусу всех невозможно. Но всё же, раз эти были так высоко оценены, то попробовать стоит, дабы узнать, что они из себя представляют.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

Только 8 июня 2019 года, наконец, решил опробовать сей проект, обласканный критиками всех мастей. Поэтому, пишу этот пост в сонливом состоянии. Запустил игру в 15 часов, а выключил в 3 часа ночи. Это, что-то с чем-то!

Да, первая часть была шикарна, однако продолжение просто бомбическое. Larian Studios, разработчик не самых крутых ролевых проектов, когда-то, стала поставщиком невероятных пошаговых RPG, вызывающих ностальгию и радость у всех олдскульщиков. Да и новички в восторге.

Путешествовать по миру можно в одиночку или с компанией NPC (есть и сетевой режим), всё, как в классических рпг. Но, как только приходится вступать в бой, включается пошаговый режим. Каждый ход или применение заклинаний, ударов, выстрелов и так далее, отнимает очки действия.

Большинство боёв, для меня, были напряженными и приходилось не раз применять нажатие F8 для быстрой загрузки игры. Постоянно приходится думать, в т.ч. во время диалогов и бытовом передвижении по миру.

Отличительные черты Original Sin 2 : интересные задания, нестандартные ситуации, несколько способов продвижения по сюжету, отличный юмор, бои в которых зачастую не обойтись без использования окружения.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Хотя последнюю игру в серии создавали в атмосфере конфликта между разработчиками и издателями, сама 5 часть Metal Gear Solid оказалась весьма достойной и тоже набрала 95 баллов. Время действия – 1984 год, когда главный герой, наёмник с позывным Веном Снейк, выходит из комы и решает отомстить за события прошлого. В игре сочетаются жанры action-adventure и стелс-экшн. Геймер получает в распоряжение самое разное снаряжение, причём игра подстраивается под его действия. Часто устраиваете нападения ночью? Получите врагов с приборами ночного видения. В этой игре на ПК очень необычный сюжет, который, правда, не всем пришёлся по вкусу, но всё равно Metal Gear получила высокие оценки.

Again, critics and users agreed on four of the top five films, though not in the same order (among other things, the professionals had Fleabag at #1, just ahead of Watchmen). The discrepancies among the top slots were Stranger Things (#5 with our users but only #13 with critics) and Russian Doll (#4 with critics, #13 with users).

Best PC games of 2019

PC Game of the Year ▣ Red Dead Redemption 2

It’s not much of a surprise that our 2018 Game of the Year turned out to be rather excellent yet again when ported to PC a year later. Rockstar Games’ prequel to their highly acclaimed 2010 open-world western Red Dead Redemption may not have scored quite as highly on PC as it did on consoles, but at least it made it to computers—the original never did.

PC Exclusive of the Year▣ Disco Elysium

The best indie game released for any platform in 2019, this truly original open-world RPG/adventure finds you playing as a drunk detective as you work your way through a very funny, noir-ish story with an impressive number of choices awaiting you at every turn. (And it’s not like any other RPG you may have played; «combat» is mainly conversation.) The award-winning game, which features an original soundtrack by British Sea Power, is a PC exclusive for now, though it is expected to be ported to PS4 and XB1 in 2020.

PC Game of the Year / PC Exclusive of the Year▣ Divinity: Original Sin II

After spending a year in Early Access, Larian’s Kickstarter-funded sequel to its acclaimed 2014 fantasy RPG received an official release in September, and all it did was take PC Game of the Year honors, with critics calling it an instant classic. It’s deeper and more detailed and complex than ever, with expanded player choice, four-player co-op (plus competitive multiplayer), a separate Dungeons & Dragons-inspired Game Master campaign creation mode, and full voice acting for every one of the game’s 1,200 characters.

Celeste

Мультиплатформерная игра с пиксельной графикой, разработанная канадской студией Matt Make Games и выпущенная в январе 2018 года. Сюжет повествует о девочке Мэйдлин, которая собирается подняться на гору Селеста (почти, как Кратос).

Для прохождения, вам потребуются кое-какие навыки в управлении персонажем. Геймплейно, игра напоминает Super Meat Boy из нашего топа про лучшие платформеры на пк. В общем, вам придётся прыгать по стенам, обходить ловушки и всё в таком роде. На Метакритике игра получила 94 балла для «Иксбоксовской версии», 92 для Switch, и 91 на PS4. Однако, игроки приняли проект не столь радушно. Только для «нинтендо» Селеста получила от них 8.3 балла, а для остальных консолей – чуть менее 7.

Resident Evil 2 (2019)

Ещё одна игра, которой я занялся буквально недавно. Честно сказать, не любитель хорроров… Однако, изучив несколько рецензий, решил приобщиться и посмотреть: что же там такого крутого?

В общем, даже мне, человеку, который играл лишь в несколько игр подобного жанра (про серию RE даже не говорю), ремейк безумно понравился.

Никогда не думал, что стану с таким напряжением отстреливаться от зараженных, убегать от них же в связи с отсутствием патронов, и это будет доставлять большое удовольствие.

Опять же, многие говорят – «Раньше было страшнее», но поиграть в оригинал мне не посчастливилось, т.к. соньки на тот момент не было. Да, приходилось наблюдать, как в неё рубятся мои знакомые и судя по тем впечатлениям из детства, дух оригинала сохранить вышло.

Версия для Xbox One получила 93 балла от критиков.

God of War

Однозначный шедевр от Santa Monica Studios, лучшая игра 2018 года и просто запредельно крутой эксклюзив для PS4. Эти парни создали шикарное продолжение-перезапуск и явно гордятся своей работой.

В игре расскажут о том, как небезызвестный убийца Олимпийских Богов переехал в Скандинавию, обзавёлся семьёй и, естественно, остепенился. Верней, разработчики сделали лишь малый акцент на мирном быте Кратоса. Нам не удастся познакомиться с семейной жизнью протагониста. Лишь из разговоров с сыном станет понятно, что тот хотел мира и уединения.

Поэтому, уже вначале игры, наш Греческий бог пускается в совместное с сыном путешествие, полное опасных приключений. Рекомендуется всем владельцам плойки четвертого поколения. На metacritic игра отхватила 94 балла от профессиональных рецензентов и 91 от пользователей.

Best PlayStation 4 games of 2019

PS4 Game of the Year ▣ Resident Evil 2

It’s no mere graphical remaster. Arriving nearly 21 years to the date after it was originally released (for the very first PlayStation console), Capcom’s survival horror classic returned for the modern era in this remake that reimagines nearly every aspect of the game. Significantly, the camera is no longer in a fixed position—and the moving viewpoint makes playing through RE2 an entirely different experience even if you are very familiar with the original game. (The placement of everything has also been tweaked, so the element of surprise remains.) In another change, each playable character (Leon, Claire, and Ada) will also have a distinct campaign, which should help minimize repetition. Obviously, the graphics (and audio) have been significantly upgraded, but they have also been given a new sense of realism. In other words, the title might be old, but this is effectively a brand-new game.

PS4 Exclusive of the Year▣ MLB The Show 19

While Death Stranding may have been (by far) the buzziest PS4 exclusive of 2019, Sony’s annual baseball franchise scored the better reviews. MLB The Show’s box cover curse may have returned—we’re looking at you, Bryce Harper—the 2019 release of The Show may have been the best one yet. New features include a «March to October» mode that lets you speed through the regular season to get to the good stuff. Interestingly, the franchise will no longer be exclusive to PlayStation consoles after the upcoming 2020 installment, though it will continue to be made by Sony.
