Ferrari fxx k

Performance

The FXX K emphasizes the handling-over-speed driving characteristic of the LaFerrari with more cornering grip and greater steering response, which are enabled by improved aerodynamics and a lower weight. It counts as one of the best handling cars in the Forza series, being capable of at least 1.7 lateral Gs at 120 mph (193 km/h), and also exceeds in braking performance due to being able to deflect air resistance upwards upon braking.

Powered by a 1036 hp (773 kW) drivetrain, the FXX K is also capable of recovering speed very quickly upon corner exits, as it only requires 2.4 seconds for 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) and 4.5 seconds for 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h). Despite higher engine figures, top speed is limited to 214 mph (344 km/h) although acceleration remains largely unaffected by wheelspinning.

The FXX K is best used on handling-demanding tracks as its low top speed relative to other hypercars may be of disadvantage on high-speed courses.

Trivia

  • The 6.3L V12 Hybrid engine swap originates from this car.
  • It is shown in the Forza series using the Long Run mode from four driving modes that control the HY-KERS unit.
  • It is depicted as a 2016 model on forzamotorsport.net.
  • The FXX K in the Forza series lacks a racing number.
  • Its active rear wing can neither be deployed nor retracted in Forzavista. Unlike the LaFerrari, its glass engine cover cannot be opened either.
  • In Forza Motorsport 7, completing a race on Mugello Autodromo Internazionale in an FXX K unlocks the Italian Tune Up achievement.
  • In Forza Motorsport 7, the FXX K has a glitch where all the manufacturer colors of the car feature the exact same stripe color as with the first manufacturer color instead of different colors for the stripes for each manufacturer color.

Synopsis

Introduced in December 2014, the FXX K is the track variant of the LaFerrari and the successor to the Enzo Ferrari-based FXX. Its «K» designation refers to the kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) that supplements its combustion engine.

It was in production from 2015 to 2017. Ferrari unveiled the FXX K Evoluzione on 28 October 2017, an enhanced model with 23% more downforce and 90 kg (198 lb) decrease in weight.

Drivetrain

The FXX K uses a similar drivetrain to the LaFerrari, but with total power increased to 1036 hp (773 kW) and a torque figure of at least 664 ft·lb (900 N·m). Its redline is set at 9250 rpm.

Platform

Optimized for track racing, the FXX K has a dry weight of 2831 lb (1284 kg), and is fitted with a series of body alterations that include winglets joined by a rear spoiler that raises on vertical stabilizers. As a result it is capable of producing more than 1190 lb (540 kg) of downforce at 124 mph (200 km/h).

The CarEdit

Essentially an evolution of the Enzo, the FXX shares some components with its parent car, but significant portions are exclusive to the FXX.

The FXX’s engine is based on the Enzo’s but has been expanded to 6,262 cc (from 5,988 cc), and output has been boosted from 660PS, as seen in the Enzo, to 800PS (588kW) @ 8,500 rpm.

The gearbox incorporates the latest developments from Ferrari’s F1 program and has a shift time under 100 ms. The brake pads are upgraded compared to those on the Enzo. It does, however, retain the ceramic discs found on the Enzo.

The tires on the FXX are 19 in (483 mm) slicks custom-developed for the car.

As with the Enzo, the seat and pedal configuration are custom fit to the user’s exact measurements.

The FXX features a comprehensive data-monitoring and telemetry that not only allows the driver to improve performance, but also provides Ferrari technicians with valuable data to improve the FXX and future road-going Ferraris.

Overview

The name «FXX K» is Ferrari’s research and development program based around a laboratory car which is based on Maranello’s first hybrid, the LaFerrari, although Ferrari claims that it is an entirely new model. The «K» in the new car’s name is referring to the kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) which is used to maximize performance. Unveiled at Yas Marina Circuit at the end of 2014, the FXX K will not be used in competition and was developed to be completely uncompromising. It uses a range of modern innovations that will ensure maximum performance anywhere. A total of 40 units were built. In 2018, the successor to the FXX K, the FXX K EVO, was unveiled to the public (no. 54) by ex-Formula One driver Giancarlo Fisichella.

Powered by a tuned variant of the Ferrari F140 FE 6.3 L (6,262 cc; 382.1 cu in) naturally aspirated V12 engine uptuned to 848 hp (632 kW) mated to an electric motor and a KERS system producing 188 hp (140 kW), the Ferrari FXX K produces 1036 hp (773 kW) and over 664 ft·lb (900 N·m) of torque. The car has extremely effective downforce generation, resulting in a downforce of 1190 lb (540 kg) at 124 mph (200 km/h) with maximum downforce settings enabled.

The FXX K features multiple design differences from the LaFerrari that emphasize improved aerodynamics and weight reduction. The front of the car has a large splitter and twin-profile spoiler, while the headlights are very small for improving aerodynamics. On the rear, the tail is higher and includes an electronically operated rear wing with a tail fin and a small wing in the end of each fin to maximize the downforce. The total weight savings come to 199 lb (90 kg) down from the LaFerrari, for a dry weight of 2568 lb (1165 kg) and a wet weight of 3296 lb (1495 kg), resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 693 hp (517 kW) per tonne or 3.18 lb (1.44 kg) per horsepower.

The FXX K is capable of 0 — 60 mph (0 — 97 km/h) in 2.7 seconds, 0 — 100 mph (0 — 161 km/h) in 4.8 seconds, and a top speed of 217 mph (350 km/h).

The FXX-K Evo was unveiled at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali 2017 on 28 October 2017 at Stazione Leopolda in Florence during the Ferrari 70th Anniversary celebration. It is an aerodynamic package available for the existing Ferrari FXX-K. The Evo package allows the car to produce 23% more downforce than the standard FXX-K and 75% more than the road-legal LaFerrari due to a modified front fascia, a large rear wing and underbody diffusers. Performance and weight figures are unknown but a 90 kg (198 lb) decrease in weight is said to estimated by the manufacturer.

On 29 August 2018, the FXX-K Evoluzione (number 54) was shown again to the public during the Formula 1 Milan Festival 2018 led by ex Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella.
